Goal: Use Photoshop to create a page of words written in expressive fonts.
- Find and install at least ten fonts that could display a feeling or emotion. Photoshop can automatically install fonts from Adobe. Instructions for installing other fonts in OSX can be found here.
- Create a new Photoshop file (File/New)
- Name your file “Font Feelings”
- Width: 7.5 inches
- Height: 10 inches
- Resolution: 200 Pixels/Inch
- Select the Text tool (The T on the menu)
- Select one of your fonts (top left)
- Select a spot on your Photoshop file. A new layer will appear in the layer window and a cursor will appear in your document.
- Write a word that relates to the font you chose.
- Select the layer on the layer window. The layer name will change to the word you wrote.
- If you need to edit the word, click the word and fix it, then click the layer name on the layer window.
- Change the color, size, and effects on the word. Keep your word readable.
- Use the move tool and the transform command to change the size and position of your word.
- Repeat for all your fonts.
- When you have created a new layer and set of effects for each word, use gradient fill to change the background to an interesting pattern.
