I think broccoli would make good hair, so let&#8217;s start with that. Here&#8217;s my broccoli:<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Broccoli-PNG-Clipart.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-604\" src=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Broccoli-PNG-Clipart-1024x959.png\" alt=\"Broccoli!\" width=\"604\" height=\"566\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Broccoli-PNG-Clipart-1024x959.png 1024w, https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Broccoli-PNG-Clipart-300x281.png 300w, https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Broccoli-PNG-Clipart-768x719.png 768w, https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Broccoli-PNG-Clipart.png 1166w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><br \/>I was luck enough to find a piece of broccoli that has already been cut out, which will help a little.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open your broccoli image in Photoshop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<p>I like to use the polygonal lasso tool <a href=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/polygonal-lasso-tool-icon.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-605\" src=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/polygonal-lasso-tool-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"35\" height=\"28\"\/><\/a>&nbsp; to cut out shapes, but you might want to use one of the other lasso tools. In the Essentials workspace, the lasso tools are the third icon on the tool menu. To choose a different lasso, click and hold on the lasso icon for a second. When you let go, you&#8217;ll see a submenu with lasso options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cut out the part of the vegetable you need. I don&#8217;t need the stalk, so I&#8217;m cutting it off. The top half is already cut out, so I don&#8217;t have to retrace it, just make sure the whole piece I need is inside the selection.<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccotop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"808\" height=\"777\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-606\" src=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccotop.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccotop.jpg 808w, https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccotop-300x288.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccotop-768x739.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 808px) 100vw, 808px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press Command-C (Windows: Ctrl-C) to copy the broccoli selection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Switch to the potato image. Use the Free Transform tool. You can access the tool from the menu (<strong>Edit > Free Transform<\/strong>) or use the keyboard shortcut command-t (Windows: Ctrl-t).\u00a0<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccohair-in-position.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"859\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-610\" src=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccohair-in-position.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccohair-in-position.jpg 720w, https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/broccohair-in-position-251x300.jpg 251w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><br \/>When your &#8220;hair&#8221; is in the right position, press return.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat the above process for the other parts of the head. \u00a0Use whatever vegetables you think will work. If you want to do that, you don&#8217;t have to cut out the picture twice. Place one eye in the right place, then duplicate the layer! &nbsp;There are at least three ways to duplicate a layer. &nbsp;Select the layer you want to duplicate on the layer palette, then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><figure><a href=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/layer-palette.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"294\" height=\"468\" class=\"size-full wp-image-612 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/layer-palette.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/layer-palette.jpg 294w, https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/layer-palette-188x300.jpg 188w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 294px) 100vw, 294px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>On the menu, select <strong>Layer > Duplicate Layer<\/strong>, OR<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drag the layer onto the New Layer Icon at the bottom of the layer palette, OR (the next one is my favorite)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press command-J (Windows: Ctrl-J) to jump the image to a new layer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you don&#8217;t like vegetables<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This project uses vegetables, but you could use anything: car parts, computers, doughnuts, rocks, sports equipment&#8230; anything that isn&#8217;t actually part of a face!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fun fact: The original Mister Potato Head toy didn&#8217;t come with a body. It was just the face parts- you had to use a real potato!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Photopea instructions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Photopea is an online Photoshop clone. It&#8217;s free (with ads), and it has most of the basic Photoshop tools.
