A good start image will have lots of details that you can change, but won&#8217;t be so detailed that finding the differences will be impossible.<\/li>\n<li>Crop the image so that it fits into one of the two templates attached below.\n<ul>\n<li>Set the crop tool to &#8220;W x H x Resolution&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>If your picture is wider than it is tall (landscape format), crop your image to 977px x 564px, 150 pixels per inch.<\/li>\n<li>If your picture is taller than it is wide (portrait format), crop your image to 640px x 828px, 150 pixels per inch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Download and open the correct template in Photoshop.\n<ul>\n<li>If your picture is in landscape format, use<br \/>\n&#8220;spot the differences template (landscape images).psd&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>If your picture is in portrait\u00a0format, use<br \/>\n&#8220;spot the differences template (portrait images).psd&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Use the move tool to copy and position your start image in the first position on the template.<\/li>\n<li>Press command-J to make a duplicate of the start image.<\/li>\n<li>Use the move tool position the duplicate in the second position on the template.<\/li>\n<li>Make changes to the duplicate image. Make at least six changes. Make sure they are large enough to see, but not too easy. Some ideas:\n<ul>\n<li>add something new<\/li>\n<li>remove something<\/li>\n<li>move something to a new place<\/li>\n<li>change colors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Change the fonts. Make sure they are readable!<\/li>\n<li>Change the number symbol at the bottom to \u00a0tell the viewer how many changes to find.<\/li>\n<li>Change &#8220;First Last&#8221; to your name.<\/li>\n<li>Change the background. That lets me easily change or remove the differences.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Removed the pyramid (in the background, on your left).<\/strong><br \/>\nMade a new layer.<br \/>\nSelected the clone tool.<br \/>\nSet the tool to copy all layers.<br \/>\nHeld down option and selected the area to copy.<br \/>\nPainted over the pyramid.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Added a blue ring to the pole (in the background, on your left).<\/strong><br \/>\nDone the same way as the pyramid.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Switched the colors of the pattern on the Pink Ranger&#8217;s left hand.<\/strong><br \/>\nUsed the polygonal lasso to select the original pattern.<br \/>\nPressed command-J to jump a copy of the selection to a new layer.<br \/>\nUsed the transform command (command-T) to rotate and reshape the pattern.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Turned the White Ranger&#8217;s chest symbol upside down.<\/strong><br \/>\nDone the same way as the Pink Ranger&#8217;s glove.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Changed the color of the Yellow Ranger&#8217;s Mouth.<\/strong><br \/>\nSelected the area around the Yellow Ranger&#8217;s mouth.<br \/>\nUsed Image &gt; Adjustments &gt; Hue\/Saturation to change her mouth color<\/li>\n<li><strong>Added a staff in the White Ranger&#8217;s hands.<\/strong><br \/>\nFound a picture of a staff.<br \/>\nMasked out the staff from the background.<br \/>\nAdded it as a new layer.<br \/>\nUsed transform (command-T) to make the staff the right size and in the right position.<br \/>\nMasked off the area that would be behind the White Ranger&#8217;s thumbs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Photoshop file of sample image:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lbmslab.org\/lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/spot-the-differences-sample.psd\">spot the differences sample<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Goal Create two slightly different versions of the same image.
